Individuals
Spread
Far and wide
A fire
A force
Connect the tribe
With an open mind
And an open heart
The community forms
Akin to an empty set of cups
Ready to begin
Collectively
Pouring
in and out
For once a cup
is all filled up
Compassion and kindness
Can only return
With a release
A spillage of all being held onto
The unsettled soul
In search of nourishment
Learns to let go
Rising beyond
the materialistic
Diving and embracing
the Altruistic
Together
We heal and grow
From dawn to dusk
A transformation
An awakening
Takes place
Deep inside
A crackling warmth
Begins to emanate
Rekindling
the once dimming
flickering embers
residing within
each of us
There is a newfound peace
In the silence
A humility
In the presence
A beauty
In acceptance
A collective rebirth
Of self-wellness
This poem is dedicated to the IMER (Integrative Medicine Elective Rotation) Fall 2020 cohort. We may have only met virtually, but this group of individuals holds a special place in my heart. The warm and kind, safe space we created over zoom emanated each of our rooms. The four weeks we spent together will forever be cherished, and we shall surely reunite in person one day soon.
