Eighty disparate paths enjoin on this day
In a field of red rock and ancient tree
Walking, running, thinking, learning each other’s way
Jumping, jostling, watching the ball go free
Exploring trails both carved in stone and cut by time
These woods will know our joy and our dreams
Camaraderie, kicks, and chasing frisbees, communal sublime
Dripping sweat, labored breaths, wishes by the stream
Blazing sun and frigid night, clouds overcast
Being social, emotional, vulnerable, and learning how to share it all
Hand in hand, back to back, we will help hold fast
Against the thousand cuts, ripping, and trying to make us fall
We face our tests, STEP by STEP, no matter which way the wind has blown
For now and ever more, Medcats pounce and bear down!
